Pre-NaNo Pain

I still don't have an idea for my novel. The clock is ticking louder and louder as each day passes. I don't usually do much planning before I start a novel but this year I would love to spend some time doing character sketches and rounding out some background for them. But to do that....you sort of need characters.

At least I am pretty sure that is how it works.
