The Rules

I just finished reading two books. Ever After and, the sequel to it, Neva Hafta by Edwardo Jackson. Putting aside the things I liked or didn't about the books I did notice the author broke some of the Rules I try so hard to follow. For example, he had the main character growl a kiss at his date. And he used everything but said or asked on most of his dialouge tags.

For him it worked. For me I can't afford to do those kinds of things. So I am off to try and write not just as well as published writers but better. The idea that it takes being that good to succeed frustrates me but I am willing to give it my all to try and get to that point.

Off to write..........

Song Lyrics of the Day

So I'll stand
with arms high
and heart abandoned
In awe
of the One
who gave it all

So I'll stand
My soul Lord
to You surrendered

All I am is Yours

Hillsong lyrics

That's wonderful, Sara. This exuberance at your own writing passion, is a joy.
And you're off to a good start. The pursuit of reader is an excellent teacher for the writer.
    Do keep enjoying your craft.
    hugs

Oops...so sorry, Sara. I meant to say, 'the pursuit of reading...' and not the 'the pursuit of reader...'
    red-faced!

Sara; you're a good enough writer to understand the goal is not just to be published, but to be the best writer you can possibly be. So many writers just do what they have to in order to get published. Yet they must live with the words that appear in print with their name attached.

You deserve credit for striving to make your writing the best it can be. And when you are published, you won't need to feel ashamed of anything you wrote.

You have the right attitude. It's important to know what you want and then to go for it. It's motivating.

    Hey Susan,
How are you doing today? Good, I hope.
I have found that since I am trying to write a novel I read books with a more critical eye. You are right that eack book is becoming a teacher of sorts for me.

    Bye for now,
    Sara

    Wandering author,

Hi, yes that is what I am struggling to become right now. You are right when You say I want to be proud of my words that end up in print.

Because it will be amazing to be published and I do not want that compromised by shoddy work on my part. Thanks for the acknowledgement of my hard work thus far.

I love how my writer friends, like you, understand how much effort goes into learning this craft.

    Bye for now,
    Sara

    Tess,
thanks for stopping by. Getting to this attitude of full steam ahead with my pursuit of my writing has been something I had to work up to over time but now I think I am ready to not let my own self doubts stand in my way anymore.

Best of luck with all your writing,
    bye for now

    Sara
